Mahtomedi Home Remodel Progress Update – Transforming a 1920s Cottage Near White Bear Lake
The Mahtomedi home renovation project is moving along quickly, and this 1920s cottage restoration near White Bear Lake, Minnesota is really coming to life!
Sheetrock is complete, walls are freshly painted, tile floors are set, custom cabinets are installed, and countertops have been measured. The white oak hardwood floors are absolutely stunning — I can’t wait to see them finished and glowing in the natural light pouring through those classic vintage windows.
Many people have asked how I choose a home to flip in Minnesota. For me, it’s all about good bones and untapped potential. I look for homes with strong structure, character woodwork, and original stonework that just need some vision to be revived. This Mahtomedi cottage had everything — charm, craftsmanship, and a layout ready to be improved.
I always focus on layout flow, making each space functional while maintaining its historic character. The Mahtomedi inspectors have been incredible to work with — they even thanked me for restoring this historic home instead of tearing it down to rebuild. It’s rewarding to help preserve Minnesota’s architectural history while creating something beautiful and timeless.
Stay tuned for the final stages of this White Bear Lake home remodel — once those floors are finished and fixtures go in, this Mahtomedi house flip will truly shine.
